Rat FLOATilla, Canberra Australia, 17 March 2007

Yep, it's the Rat FLOATilla 2007!!
This is an event for lovers of the bicycle, and all things ridiculous!!

Freakbikers of the world, beware our Amphibious Tall Couch Trike!

ALL freakbikers are invited no, CHALLENGED, to represent your sorry arses here in Antipodea at our Rat FLOATilla. Bring your amphibious bikes if you dare... plenty of space to crash at a Rat Abode!!!!!

The Arena of Scrapage in the afternoon will be nearby the meeting point, then later, we will ferry everyone across to OUR OWN PRIVATE ISLAND for the remainder of the long night ahead!!!!! Fuk we rock, so will this special event :)

Feel free to pass the invitation ONLY to nice people who would be interested in coming along. We can't stand narcs, stressheads, violence or biggots!

The event will go all afternoon, evening and whatever comes after that, so make sure you bring plenty of warm clothing, floaties (essential safety gear for boarding the island via a Rat Ferry) swimming attire, a towel (of course), food for the day/evening (and the next morning!) and beer... A LOT OF BEER.

Contact Limp Jimmy for more details...

Secret Mens Business

This is the first in what will be a series of posts that showcases the bikes of Rat Patrol Oz.

Bike Name: Secret Mens Business

Builder: Nancy Porker

Type: Standard run of the mill tall

History: The donation of two identical racer frames from the Cheney family screamed "build a tall". It was the second (or maybe third - can't remember) tallbike in the RPOz fleet. The ancient dynamo on the bottom bike works nicely.

What's in a name?: Secret Mens Business was built on Valentine's Day 2006, in the shed, with lots of beers, by three blokes. There's also a reference to the donor in the title, but that's a secret! :)

Most memorable ride: Without a doubt, the Sydney to the Gong charity ride for MS amidst 10,000 other riders. Tearing up a hill past a pack of matching lycra clad freaks calling out "put it in lads" and watching half of them nearly fall off their bikes. The stop at Gunjulla Flat. Peering over the guard rails of Sea-cliff bridge in a 50km/hr headwind. Beers at every pub along the way. Dave. Has anyone seen Dave?

Ducks Beware!!

The Amphibious Couch Trike is coming! Limp has been putting in the hard yards as you can see.
Last night, we afixed some crossbraces and "load tested" with three of us close to the lofty heights of Limp's garage roof! She performed remarkably well - thanks, no doubt, to the hours Limp has spent going through design options in his mind (glad we extended the front wheel by about a foot eh Limp!).
The barrels you can see to the right are the floats to make her amphibious. Hahaha!!!
The rest of the building should be relatively easy sailing (boom tish!) with just the drive, floatation and steering system to go. We've pretty much done all the hard thinkin on those fronts tho, so it's now just a matter of doin it!
See you at the Tardis tonight Rats!

Cycling Central

Well, Last Sunday saw our piece on SBS's Cycling Central program at 5:30
Story went well, caught our good side I thought. Not sure if we can upload to footage but I think we have some photos from the day.
